John Frizzle

1925 DAR Application
by grandchild of John Frizzle, Mary Frizzle Hancock
She gave details of John Frizzle's life that match what we know after 1760. The document claims John served in the French and Indian War in Canada [John Frizzle from Virginia served in a military unit during King George's war of 1746-1747, one of the French and Indian Wars. John's unit went to Canada and fought.] The DAR application claims that when John Frizzle died in 1818, he was 101 years of age! The writer said that Frizzle's sword from the war still remained in the hands of a descendent in Ayden (a village near where John Frizzle lived in his lifetime). Whereabouts of the sword today are unknown.

In 1775 John Frizzle also served in the Pitt County, North Carolina militia, he would have been 57 if born in 1717.

1790 and 1810 census enumerations show John Frizzle in Pitt County, North Carolina.

Mary Rountree

Mary's birth: The only record is the 1800 census, putting Mary under 45. If born in 1755 or
1756, she would have been old enough to give birth to her eldest child (which appears to be Penelope) in 1772.

Note: Tim Hudson: Dates estimated because of remarriage of her widow.
