Jesse Rountree Sr.

Some say Jesse was born in Virginia.

1750 - He was in Beaufort County, North Carolina (probably Pitt County now).
1760s - He was in Pitt County in 1760s.
1770s - Moved to Craven County (or county lines changed) in 1770s.

Jesse Jr. served as a Revolutionary War soldier and lived in Pitt County, North Carolina.

Per Tim Hudson - Jesse Rountree named his daughter, Mary, in his will of 1777 and he named John Frizzle [Mary's husband] as one of his executors.

Some list his parents as:

Rachel Rountree was living in Craven County, North Carolina in 1779.


Jonathan Frizzle Sr.

Some have claimed that Jonathan Sr. and John Frizzle were sons of Arthur Frizzle of Princess Anne County Virgina. Perhaps so, but no proof yet.

Moved to Norfolk County, Virginia
Mid-1760'a moved to Pasquotank County, North Carolina.
In 1779 and 1789 Jonathan was still in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.
In 1790 - 1800 Jonathan was in Craven County, North Carolina.
In 1790 Craven, Jonathan Frizzle lived near a large group of Rountrees.
In 1791 Jonathan Frizzle (Sr) purchased 375 acres of land in Pitt Co NC in 1791, but he didn't live here.
In 1801, Jonathan Sr. sold land to his son, Jonathan Jr. (the deed says father/son) [Pitt Co NC Deed Book P, pp. 293-295]. This property lay adjoining the land of Jesse Rountree, Jr., who was Penelope Rountree's uncle.

In 1816 was in Green County, North Carolina with his son Jonathan Jr.

Jonathan Frizzle the son of Jonathan Frizzle was Born Oct. 8th 1778

Jonathan Frizzle wrote a will probated on Aug. 18, 1843, in Pitt County, North Carolina.
Jonathan R. Frizzle appointed executor. Devisees:
5 younger children: Margaret Frizzle (married Benjamin Rives; she d. on Nov. 1, 1849) Warren Frizzle Alacinda Frizzle (married Joseph MURPHY of Greene Co. ) William Frizzle Sally Ann Frizzle (married Edward R. COWARD of Greene Co. )

Jonathan Frizzle had married first to Margaret _______, and had other children, also Devises under said will:
Absala Frizzle, wife of Jesse Rountree Elizabeth Frizzle, wife of Edward CARMON of Greene Co. Zelphia Frizzle, wife of Wm. Brown Frances Frizzle, wife of Charles Rogers Gerusha Frizzle, wife of James Gaylord (resided out-of-state) Jonathan R. Frizzle Warren Frizzle [same as above?]

In the Name of god amen this 10 Day of march 1795 I Elias STALLINGS, being weake in body but of sound and Parfit mind and memory thanks be to god Calling to mind the unserterty of Life Do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to Say (unreadable) I give and be quathe unto my well beloved wife Rachel STALLING Sall my puter mare bridle and sadle, all my house hold furneture During her Natural Life and after my Wife Deses to my three Children namely Jemima STALLINGS Elias and Pheby STALLING to them ant their heirs for ever. and I also leave the use and benefits of all my land and Plantation to my well Beloved wife Rachel Stallings and after my wife Deses I give the Said land and plantation to be Equally Divided Betwen my two sons Miles STALLINGS and Elias STALLINGS and the plantation (unreadable) to be to my son Elias which I give unto him and heirs for ever and if he Dies without an heir to be Divided Betwen Jamima STALLING and Pheby STALLINGS and also give and be quathe unto my Daughter Jamima STALLINGS one Cow and Calf which I give unto her and her heirs for ever I also give and Be quathe unto my daughter Pheby STALLINGS one Cow and Calf which I give unto her and her heirs for ever____ _______ and all the Remainder part of my Stock of Cattle I give unto my Beloved wife Rachel STALLINGS hogs and sheep which I give unto her and her heirs for ever_____ ______ ______ ______ ______
