Frost Family Roots of North Louisiana.

The "children" listed are not known to be brothers. These men are listed because their descendants settled in northern Louisiana. This document has a special emphasis on the Frost Families of North Central Louisiana and their possible relationship to one another.

1. Benjamin Frost and Darrel Frost are probably brothers. They are both from Beat 5 Butler County, Alabama, giving them a stronger tie.
2. William Frost owned land in Butler County, Alabama though the bulk of his land was in Dallas,
3. Lowndes, and Bibb Counties - lands to the immediate north and northwest of Butler County. He could be a brother to Benjamin Frost and/or Darrel Frost. William Frost's ties to the Frost of Louisiana have never been firmly established. His possible "sons" though had land holdings in these same counties before moving to Louisiana.
4. Johnson Frost had descendants who settled in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. The other Frost families have claimed ties to Frost families in the Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita and Claiborne Parishes, as well as a few Parishes a bit to the south of these. Johnson and his wife have been traced to Mississippi and to Alabama due to his son Jacob W. Frost being born in Alabama. Johnson Frost could be related to Benjamin and William because they have all been traced to South Carolina

6. Joseph Thomas Frost is most likely not related to the main Frost branches of North Central Louisiana, though some members of his family did live in Claiborne Parish in 1850. His family appears to have entered from Missouri, while the rest of the Frost appears to have come from Alabama. At some point, some of Joseph Thomas Frost's family appears to have gone back to Missouri or moved on to Texas.
7. Darrel Frost, I have wondered if he is really from South Carolina rather than North Carolina, but there is no family claims otherwise

This could possibly be:

Tabitha Vandiver (daughter of George Vandiver) married Joseph Frost.
The Frosts executed a “three lives” lease in 1777 with the third person being “Harvin Goreham, orphan of Sanford Goreham”. Whether Harvin Gorham was a step-brother of Tabitha Frost or a double in-law is uncertain, but it seems highly likely that he was living with the Frosts at the time. - Loudoun County Deed Book L, p294.

I thought for a while there I knew who her parents were. But it looks that my research for her may be wrong. I am leaving the Hogue lines up, along with all the other information I have pertaining to it, for other people who may want to use it. And perhaps I may find there is a link to this line to my families after all. Update April 28,2003 Lorna David

Jacob W. Frost, son of Johnson and Rebecca (Hogue) Frost, who married Martha Ann Logan on Dec 17, 1845 in Muscogee County, Georgia was in Columbus City, Muscogee County, GA in 1850. Jacob W. Frost, 32, GA Martha A., 27, GA B.C, 4, GA Edw C., 2, GA H.F. Mullen, 23, AL Johnson Frost who married Rebecca Hogue was in Troup County, Georgia in 1850. Johnson Frost, 63, born SC Rebecca, 62, GA Emily R, 18, GA I also found the following census records for 1840 in Perry County, Alabama: John Frost, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 60-70. This fits with the ages of John & Rebecca enumerated with Jacob and Elizabeth in 1850. and Jacob W. Frost (listed under Jartell Frost), 2 males 0-5, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 0-5, 1 female 20-30. This fits with the ages of Jacob, Elizabeth and their children in 1850. The fact that John Frost and Rebecca are living with Jacob W. Frost and Elizabeth in 1850, is pretty strong evidence that Jacob Frost, husband of Elizabeth, is the son of John & Rebecca Frost and not Johnson & Rebecca Frost. - Stacie Geyer
