Note:
I believe that my great-grandfather, Reuben Andrew Jackson Frost may be James' illegitimate son. His mother was Ruth Maddox and we were always told that "Jim" Frost was his father, and that he (Reuben) was born in LA. We have been unable to find any record of marriage between Ruth Maddox and James Frost.
James brought Ruth and Reuben back to TN (where her family was) somewhere around 1873 and he returned to LA. We lost track of him at that point.
On the 1870 LA census, we find Ruth Maddox living with her grandfather or possibly greatgrandfather William Maddox, and James and Caroline Frost living nearby.
If you have any information at all that can help us, I would really appreciate it.

Elvira Fowler

Elvira Fowler had three children by her first husband Amos Robinson. After her second marriage, she lived in Clarke Co AL until late 1850. During the winter of 1850/1851, she and Wiley followed her parents to Union Par LA, where her sisters Samantha, Sarah Ann, and Susannah lived with their husbands. Elvira and Wiley remained there for a few years, but in the late 1850s they moved to De Soto Par LA, where they were enumerated on the 1860 census. - Tim Hudson

Sheny Fowler

Richard Fowler's family Bible records this daughter's name as "Sheny", the entry is quite hard to read and is probably a nickname.
On 28 Dec 1834, a Phiney Fowler married to William Robeson in Wilcox Co AL. Since there were no other Fowler families in Wilcox Co during this time period, it is likely that Phiney was a daughter of Richard.
"Sheny" and "Phiney" are probably the same person. Data supporting this hypothesis: among the grandchildren of Richard Fowler whose births are recorded in his Bible is the birth of William F. Robinson, born 10 Feb 1836. Although Elvira Fowler married Amos Robinson, this marriage took place 20 Aug 1835, nearly six months before the birth of William F. Robinson. Although it is possible that William F. Robinson was a child of Elvira Fowler Robinson who died young (he could have been premature or perhaps Elvira and Amos "had" to get married), it seems just as likely, if not moreso, that "William Robeson" was actually "William Robinson", that "Phiney Fowler" and "Sheny Fowler" were the same person, and that the William F. Robinson born 10 Feb 1836 was their son. - Tim Hudson

Samantha Fowler

Richard & Sarah Fowler's Bible recorded the nicknames of their daughter Samantha as "Mantha". Also, recorded as "Mantha" on a deed in 1838, while her 1837 marriage record gave her name as "Manthy".

Samantha and Noah lived in Snow Hill on their parents’ farms until the winter of 1847/1848, when they moved to Union Parish Louisiana. They settled about 7 miles east of Farmerville and their farm was next to that of George and Sarah Ann Fowler Albritton’s, James R. and Susan Fowler Albritton’s, and next to the farm of Richard Fowler. Samantha and Noah remained in Union Parish until their deaths. - Tim Hutson.
