According to entry in book, ALABAMA SOLDIERS: Declared in October 1832 that he served in the American Revolutionary War; enlisted in 1782. Stated he was dischared honorably; State of North Carolina said he was a deserter. Stated he was "conditionally released" after serving 13 of 18 months.
Moved to Newberry, South Carolina, then to Wilcox County, Alabama.
Per Stan, 6/30/98; Matthew served in John McCondiechie's company --Wilcox County militia, in the Indian Wars.
