Research needed:
Robert BIRCHETT of Westover Parish bought 303a which he already occupied from Henry Batt and James Thweat dated 3 June 1693.. Henry Batt and James Thweat of Bristol Parish, but all of Charles City Co., Va. The property was located in Westover Parish on Blands Swamp crossing the Blackwater Road as per patent to Thweat and Batt.

Robert BIRCHETT named in deed 3 June 1693 for Westover Parish, pf Charles City Co., VA He was sold 303a of land that he already occupied by Henry BATT and James THWEATT of Bristol Parish of the same County. The land was located on Blands Swamp and crossing the Blackwater Road as by patent of the sellers.


Thomas Burchett

The term "Ancient Planter" is applied to those persons who arrived in Virginia before 1616, remained for a period of three years, paid their passage, and survived the massacre of 1622. They received the first patents of land in the new world as authorized by Sir Thomas Dale in 1618 for their personal adventure. These names were not found among the passenger lists of ships arriving prior to 1610.
Richard Birchett

The following patent was abstracted in Nell Nugent's Cavaliers and Pioneers, Vol. I, p. 6:
Thomas Bouldin, of Eliz. Citty, Yeoman & Ancient Planter, 200 acs. about 1 1/2 mi. up Southampton Riv., 20 Jan. 1624, p. 43. E. upon sd. Riv., W. upon the maine land, & S. upon land of Mary, his wife. 100 acs. for his per. right & 100 acres. in the right of Richard Birchett, an old planter, which hee hath given, granted &c. unto sd. Thomas as by indenture betwixt them dated 19 Jan. 1619.


Thomas Birchett

Thomas was listed as a tithe from June 10, 1748 to 1750 in Cumberland Parish, Lunenburg County, Va. Thomas lived in Dinwiddie County when it was divided from Prince George County, Virginia.[James Jinkens GED File].


Benjamin Hedford Birchett

...was listed as 1 tithe in the Cumberland Parish, Lunenburg County, Virginia from June 10, 1748 to 1753. Benjamin was shown in the tax lists from 1748 to 1783...in 1772 Benjamin claimed his son Robert in Lunenburg Co. tax record where he claimed 2 tithes. In 1773-1775 he claimed his son William in Lunenburg Co. Tax rcds. where he claimed 2 tithes. In 1776 Benjamin claimed 2 sons in Lunenburg Co. - Benjamin Jr. and William.
Benjamin bought a grist mill and 35 acres from Valentine Brown in 1761. He sold the mill and property to Travis Mason. On Aug. 7, 1761 Benjamin patented 400 acres on the south branches of the Meherrin River in Va. In 1764 he sold part of the land.
...(at a probate) court held in Lunenburg Co. on 8 Feb 1787 / 14 Feb 1788...the will named William and Young Burchett and other unnamed children. William and John Burchett, along with William Scott were named the will's executors. The witnesses were George Clark, Samuel Estes and Henry Pollard.[James Jinkins GED File].


Joseph Burchett

According to information in the James Jinkens GED File, several of his children would have been born after he was 60 years old.

Joseph was listed as one of Richard Fox tithes 1749-1750 in Lunenburg County, Virginia. Richard Fox was his father-in-law. In 1751-1763 showed Joseph with 1 tithe on the Virginia Tax List in Lunenburg. In 1764 showed Joseph listed as 2 tithes with 413 acres in St. James Parish, Lunenburg County, Virginia. Joseph left Virginia prior to 1782 to Warren County, NC where he met and married his second wife Martha Wilson. There is no record of Miss Fox or her given name after 1770 in Virginia. It is assumed she is deceased.[James Jinkins GED File].
