Barbara,

I just checked out your tree on Ancestry's website. I just wanted to let you know a couple of things about my ancestor that is listed in your tree.

He was the youngest son of Elijah Michael Auld and Margaret Jane Ward.
The 1880 Union Parish, LA census had him incorrectly listed as Arnett Aulds and his wife incorrectly listed as Susan. I don't know how in the world they made those mistakes but they did. His name was Asbury Cason Auld and his wife was Anastatia (Stacey) Meeks. The child they had listed for them was the only correct thing. Ellis was there son. He was my ggrandfather. I have a copy of Asbury Cason's death certificate and his parents are shown as Elijah Michael Auld and Margaret Jane Ward. I also have another document that has Asbury stating he was married only once and it was to Stacey Meeks. On my ggrandfather's social security application, he lists his parents as Asbury C. Auld and Stacey Meeks. That goes to show you that census takers can certainly mess it up on the names of ancestors, doesn't it?? It threw me off when I first looked at that census too. The only thing I can figure must have happened was a neighbor must have given the information on their names. They had 4 children all together. My ggrandfather, Joseph Ellis, Willie Adams, Hartford "Gus", and Charley (female).

Thanks!
Debbie
