Margarette Jane Ward

I have some information on this family through Elijah Michael Auld's wife, Margaret Jane Ward (c1812 - 1880s). She was the daughter of Elisha Ward, Sr. (1773-1838) and Jane Washington Neeland (1784 - 1850/1860). I think that there is an error in how this information was entered. After his marriage on 7 April 1830 to Margaret Jane Ward, Elijah Michael Auld did not marry again; he died between 1871/1880, and Margaret survived him by a few years. Their eldest son John Jordan Auld was the husband of Ann Black Smith and Artalissa A. Phillips. According to his Confederate pension application, John Jordan Auld was born in Lowndes County Alabama in 1831, not in Sumter County. Their second son was named "James Wesley Auld", not "Joseph". The 1850 census contained an error and listed this child as "Joseph", but many other records show this to be incorrect. Also, their youngest child was named "Asbury Cason Auld" according to his death certificate. Margaret's father Elisha Ward, Sr. lived in Jefferson Co GA between 1796 and 1806, but moved to Twiggs Co GA by 1810. He remained there until the winter of 1818/1819, when he moved to what is now Butler Co AL. By 1830, he had moved north into southern Lowndes Co AL, where John Fields Auld settled in about 1830 or 1831. Elijah Michael Auld lived in what is now Elmore, then Montgomery Co AL. In Nov 1834, John Fields Auld sold his Lowndes Co AL plantation and moved to Kemper Co MS, across the Mississippi/Alabama state line from Sumter Co AL. Elisha Ward and Elijah Michael Auld joined John F. Auld in Kemper County in 1836 and they farmed there for the year 1837. During the winter of 1837 - 1838, Elisha Ward and Elijah Michael Auld moved to northern Louisiana, where Elisha's son David Ward settled in 1837. Elisha Ward died in what is now Union Parish on 5 Aug 1838.
