John Frost

John Frost has a strong connection to his descendants.

It is believed that in the early 1830's John moved from South Carolina/Georgia to Lowndes County, Alabama with five other brothers. Brothers: Thomas married to Nancy, Henry married to Martha Hendrix, James, Cedric [Shadrack], and Samuel (murdered in Lowndes County, Alabama).

Another John Frost, connection unknown, is also listed with the following land patents, two counties to the northwest of Lowndes County, Alabama:
AliquotParts Sec./Block Township Range Fract. Sec. Meridian State County Issued Acres
E½NE 32/ 21-N 10-E No St Stephens AL Perry 11/16/1830 80.57
W½SW 31/ 21-N 10-E No St Stephens AL Perry 5/17/1831 81.14
N½NE 7/ 21-N 10-E No St Stephens AL Perry 4/10/1837 80.0
E½NW 7/ 21-N 10-E No St Stephens AL Perry 5/15/1837 80.0

In the late 1840's John, Thomas, and James Cedric Frost moved with their families from Alabama to Louisiana. Shadrack moves to the southern regions and the rest move to north central Louisiana. John, James and Thomas appear to live the closest to each other.

John and his family are listed in the following Louisiana Censuses: 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 [See Sources].

Geography for area where the John Frost family settled:
Lincoln Parish was formed in 1873 from Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson & Union Parishes, Louisiana.
Downsville, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana is located at 32°37'38" North, 92°24'52" West (32.627112, -92.414483). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.8 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.

Unconfirmed: Arthur Frost, a name circulated in the family from Ireland/England: John's brother/or John's Father?? No evidence of an Arthur Frost has been uncovered. It is said Arthur Frost incurred indebtness along with a brother/father and thrown into an English prison. As punishment, they were sent to Florida, America to survive on their own. At least one made his way to Louisiana.

As you can see, there is some confusion. Your help is appreciated.
